New Mentor for Medical Neuroscience: Giulia Petitto
by Ellen Vos and prof. White
Our Mentor team has been enriched with a new member: Giulia Petitto. We are delighted to introduce you to Giulia and welcome her to our team.
Giulia studies Psychology at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (online at the moment). As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic she currently resides in Venezuela, where she was raised.
Giulia’s Notebook
Giulia took the course Medical Neuroscience (Coursera) in 2019-2020 . To support her own learning she kept detailed hand-written notes and illustrations (pictured below). She used these notes to study for a neuroscience exam at her current University. She found her notes so useful that she decided to share them with other learners in Medical Neuroscience.
When she shared her notes Ellen requested a copy and enjoyed it very much. For example finding the Study Tips from the website incorporated in her notes was gratifying. Prof. White also enjoyed it very much. The way Giulia incorporated drawings in her notes impresses us both (Prof. White and Ellen). Giulia is visualizing her knowledge in her notes. She also
constructed other tangible study aids, including a 3-D representation of the human brain drawn on a balloon.
We recommend that you take a look at Giulia’s Notebook for yourself. You can find it here.
We admire the supportive action of Giulia to share her Notebook with you. That kind of supportiveness is an important quality in Mentors. We enthusiastically decided to ask Giulia if she is interested in serving as mentor in Medical Neuroscience. Happily she said yes and so she is now an official member of our Mentor Team.
The field of cognitive psychology fascinates Giulia and she feels passionate about the relationship between psychology and technology. She is also curious about neurodegenerative diseases and would like to learn more about this in the future. Her Medical Neuroscience experience gives her the inspiration to continue studying the amazing brain.
The website www.learnmedicalneuroscience.nl in the COVID-19 pandemic
More learners visited the website during the pandemic. You can see this in the image below on the number of users. The sudden rise of the numbers in 2020 is probably an effect of lock downs in various countries where more people are starting to learn online.
Learners from different countries used the website in this period (Januari 1 2019, to February 21 2021). You can find the top 10 countries below.
